How is this so? You can see the endospermic effect of white jelly forming on the bottom inside the glass bottle signifying growth of solid endosperm (coconut meat) without the fruit.

What is Coconut Endosperm?

Coconut Endosperm (Cocos nucifera) is coconut water or the liquid reservoir of nutrients that nourishes the young coconut for a year or more of its life, delivering vital nutrients to sustain growth of the solid endosperm (coconut meat) found inside the fruit. Endosperm is rich in proteins, amino acids, sugars, vitamins, minerals and growth factors and it plays a pivotal role in supporting tissue growth.

The important factor that keeps the coconut endosperm alive and growing into solid endosperm is the RNA.

What is RNA?

RNA is described as ribonucleic acid, a nucleic acid present in all living cells. Its principal role is to act as a messenger carrying instructions from DNA for controlling the synthesis of proteins, although in some viruses RNA rather than DNA carries the genetic information.

RNA plays an important role in amino acid transport and respiratory metabolism in living cells. RNA-phosphorus (RNA-P) content is found to be particularly high in young, green coconuts and Coconut Endosperm is harvested at an optimal stage of maturity to ensure a high content of RNA and growth factors, including shikimic acid, quinic acid and indole-3-acetic acid.

How does COVIRCO Organic Virgin Coconut Oil maintain the endospermic effect?

It is not easy to maintain the endospermic effect in virgin coconut oil so as to keep the oil alive with all the nutrients intact to support growth and respiratory metabolism in living cells.
To obtain a healthy endospermic effect in our organic virgin coconut oil, we buy only organic coconuts from a remote island in Sri Lanka and have the oil extraction done immediately after harvest in a certified organic GMP factory where strict organic protocols of oil extraction in spiral cold–pressed processes are monitored and complied according to international standards to obtain and maintain the maximum yield of vital nutrients into the oil.
